Last fall Plano and Richardson joined together to embark on the new adventure of YoungLives - Young Life’s ministry for teen moms. Twice a month these sweet moms come from all three senior high’s in Plano and all three high school’s in Richardson for club and campaigners. But don’t be mistaken, club at YoungLives looks quite different than your typical Young Life club. To start picture children and babies everywhere filling a room with laughter and some tears as babies are passed around, toddlers are chasing each other, while others are trying to figure out how to crawl or walk to keep up with it all. The night begins with dinner where mentors, moms, and kiddos all gather around tables to talk, share and eat. After dinner moms and sometimes kids too make a craft that they can bring home that night. Then finally all kids are handed over to our amazing childcare volunteers, so that their mamma’s can catch a much deserved break during club where they sing, dance, laugh a lot, and get to hear that they are dearly loved and adored by our heavenly father.
At our first club ever we met 13 precious girls and since then we’ve more than doubled in club attendance, with our last club having almost 30 sweet moms and their kiddos! Our first few months in YoungLives have been nothing short of an adventure, but some highlights have been an all regional Bunco night, a campaigners Thanksgiving feast, and having Santa Clause come to club at Christmas! We’ll celebrate St. Patrick’s day in style this upcoming Thursday at club and are looking forward to all that spring has in store, and of course camp this summer where we get to take our babies too! If you’re ever in need of some love, we have plenty of sweet babies to hold and hilarious toddlers who love to run around and be cuddled, come spend a night with us!
One club down and six more to go! Y’all, this life with middle school students is high packed energy, fun and laughter!
We went on an all night Bus Tour on January 23rd and it was so much fun. With all our kiddos and our high school leaders, we loaded up some Yellow Buses and crawled down the highway to the Mavericks game. There were over 600 middle school students and 60 volunteers and staff adults packed into a sold out game. It was WYLD. From there, we went to Jump Street and jumped out some more energy and then headed to Wyldlife Club at Greenville Church in Allen to jump around and sing some more! We got to hear the Great News that night that Jesus wants us to trust Him in the midst of “storms” in our life’s and that He cares about us. We finished the night at Main Event with more running around in Lazer Tag, games and bowling. From start to finish, the night was full of laughter and fun. Needless to say, we were sweaty and tired by the end of it, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Bus tour kicked off our semester and led us to our first Spring Wyldlife Club back at the Muehlenbeck center with a “Minute to Win It” themed club. Who doesn’t love a bunch of “Minute to Win It” games packed into one hour? That night I got to tell them more about who Jesus is and that He says “I am the Bread of Life.” I got to share the truth that Jesus wants us to find our full satisfaction in Him AND that He meets us in the midst of our anger and frustration and in our happiness and laughter. Getting to share just a little piece of who Jesus is to them is one of my favorite things. It is a privilege to have their attention for a mere 7 minutes so that we get to learn more of the God who created us and who loves us.

We are so glad you're here! We believe that Young Life is a place where everyone is welcome, invited and cared for and we hope that this blog does just that. We hope that from this platform we can keep friends and future friends in the loop, updated and in the know of what’s going on in YL Plano!
Last semester ended and this semester started for our Juniors and Seniors at Crooked Creek Ranch on Ski Trip. From skiing, snowboarding or tubing all day to singing their hearts out at Club every night, it was an absolutely fear-overcoming adventure! We started the Young Life semester with Throwback Club, then Super-Hero-Bowl Club (yes, someone came with bowls taped all over themselves, why not!?) and then Club of Luv. We had two Young Lifers from Frisco come to the West Plano YL Club for a Bachelor/Bachelorette game… the video of their first date will be coming next week!
For our Wyldlife kids, they got to experience an over-night Bus Tour on January 23rd including a Mavs game, Jump Street, Main Event and a Wyldlife Club with 300 of their new friends. They had their first Spring “Minute to win it” themed Club last week. Young Lives had their first club with teen moms represented from all 3 Senior High Schools in Plano. They got to have Club while their babies were being held and loved by childcare volunteers.
In a given week, our Staff, Committee, Volunteer Leaders and Mentors get to be a part of 4 YL Clubs and 6 Campaigners, all to share the hope and truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We consider it a privilege to be involved in the lives of middle and high school students across Plano and are so excited to see what the rest of the semester has in store!
Don't worry, we'll keep you posted :)
